Five Towns College Men's Basketball Tips Off Season Against Touro (Preview)

Justin Brown dribbles up the court for the Five Towns College Sound

After an impressive first year back in 2016-2017, the John Mateyko led Five Towns College Sound team is looking to build off that success in the team's second season. With players like Stu Warren, Ty Peoples, and Malcolm Mathis either graduated or not on the roster the second year team has large shoes to fill.

A 10-3 record for a first-year program is something to be extremely happy about. After speaking with Justin Brown and Coach Mateyko, the goal for this team seems to be playoffs or bust. The Sound has a much more challenging schedule this year, which includes the facing defending champions Berkeley College on December 13th.

This year's squad includes a few new faces: Anthony Preist (#15), a sophomore guard from Freeport; brothers Joved Bernard (#24) and Jhared Bernard (#25); and Kyree Sawyer (#3), a Freshman from Bay Shore. The team also has the addition of Corey Jacques (#12), a junior transfer student from Medaille College. While at Valley Stream High School, Jacques was named All-Conference his junior and senior years, also being named to the Top 40 players in Nassau County during his senior season.

The Five Towns Sound is ready to get its season started tonight, October 10 at 7:30 pm at the Five Towns College gymnasium. Make sure to pick up some FTC gear before the game, available at the FTC Store
