Women's Basketball Drops Game to Suffolk CC
In the team's first game of 2019, the Sound dropped a road game against Suffolk County Community College by a score of 69-40. In the first matchup between these two teams on December 4th, Suffolk came out on top 57-54.
Chloe Walton led the scoring for the Sound with 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Denisha Allen had her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points, including two 3-pointers, and 11 rebounds.
Jada Roberts Duncan started the scoring with a 3-pointer, assisted by Chloe Walton. Both teams appeared to be off to a slow start as the first quarter ended with a score of 10-10. Suffolk opened up the game in the gap in the second quarter, outscoring Five Towns 25-7, including 12 points from Suffolk's Anhya Jenkins who finished the game with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Five Towns College had a tough time scoring as Suffolk had a strong defensive presence in the paint. Suffolk had seven blocks and outrebounded Five Towns 47-41. Suffolk's Kasey Koerner had four blocks, 10 rebounds, and 17 points.
The women play at Vaughn College on Friday at 6:00 PM before returning home on Monday, January 21st to play King's College at 6:00 PM.
