Dix Hills, N.Y. – Five Towns College has been selected to host the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Men's & Women's Basketball and Women’s Volleyball Championships. The volleyball semifinals and final will be played on Saturday, November 6, 2021. The basketball semifinals will take place on Saturday, February 26, 2022 with the championship games to be played on Sunday, February 27, 2022. All tournament games will be held on the campus of Five Towns College.
Five Towns College hosted the 2020 HVIAC basketball championship. The volleyball championship did not take place as the HVIAC and its members voted to not hold conference competition due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We are elated that the HVIAC has selected Five Towns College again to host the basketball and volleyball championships," said Athletic Director Matt Guercio. "We were very confident in our preparation for the 2020 championships and plan to add some additional features to enhance the experience for our student-athletes.”
All games will be streamed live on webcast by the Five Towns College Mass Communications Division. WFTU (1570), the radio station at Five Towns College will provide play-by-play, color commentary, and sideline reporting during both championships.
“Our students had such a great time during the championships last year and were able to put together a professional product,” said Mass Communication Instructor Holli Haerr. “It was an excellent experience for them both on camera and on the crew.”
