Dix Hills, N.Y - Five Towns College is proud to announce the hiring of Evan Leider as the college's Esports Head Coach. Five Towns College competes in collegiate Esports through the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).

Leider, a native of Long Beach, N.Y., graduated from Adelphi University with a Bachelor of Science degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Computer & Management Information Systems with a concentration in Game Development and minors in Computer Science and Video Game Design. 

"We are excited to welcome Evan to our campus as our next Head Esports Coach," said Athletic Director, Matt Guercio. "He is dedicated to the growth and success of our program, both in the competitive scene as well as academically."

At Adelphi University, Leider became a teaching assistant for the Introduction to Video Game Programming course for multiple semesters. He served as Co-President for the G.A.M.E.S. Club at the university where he showcased game development tools to students. In addition, Leider, co-authored the textbook, Game Development with Construct 2, with his instructor, Dr. Lee Stemkoski, which was published by Apress. He appeared as a guest on the Indie Game Academy 'Indie Game Lunch Hour' podcast on December 14, 2022 episode.  

"I'm very excited and eager to bring my technical skills and expertise from Game Development to the world of Esports Gaming at Five Towns College," said Leider. "I will assist and guide our student-athletes to improve and succeed at the games they are practicing and competing in. My other main goals are to bring a sense of community to all gamers at the College, and to provide a place where they can create friendships and share their interests in competitive gaming."

Leider worked for three years as a Software Engineer for T.M. Bier & Associates, Inc. in Glen Cove, N.Y., a company that specializes in building automation, HVAC and controls systems. Following that position, he worked at Digital Continue, a video game company in New York City.
