Five Towns Men's Basketball Suffers 107-70 Loss at Home to Berkeley
Men's basketball falls to 2-16 on the season as losing streak reaches 12
The Sound continued to struggle this season as they were unable to match the firepower of Berkeley in a difficult home contest, falling 107-70. Despite fighting hard throughout the game, Five Towns College struggled with poor shooting from beyond the arc and was outmuscled on the boards, leading to a disappointing loss.
This was a game of missed opportunities, from the outset, Berkeley established their dominance with a balanced offensive attack and aggressive rebounding. The Golden Bears built a 49-38 lead in the first half and extended it to 58-32 in the second, culminating in a 107-70 victory. The Sound’s overall shooting numbers were a cause for concern—while they managed a 43.1% field goal percentage, they converted only 1-of-20 (5.0%) from three-point range, a stark contrast to Berkeley’s 43.8% from deep.

- Patrick Harrington led the Sound with 18 points in 37 minutes.
- Malik Moore provided a spark with 21 points and 10 rebounds, showing his strength in the paint.
- Eian Williams added 12 points.
- Tayron Bangs and Ahmad McKnight contributed modestly. Unfortunately, the bench could only muster 5 points in total—a factor that left the starters overworked and isolated.
Coach Drzal expressed his disappointment after the game, “It was a tough night for us. We couldn’t get our three-point shooting going at all, and our bench didn’t add much tonight. We have to work on creating better shot opportunities from the outside and fighting for every rebound. This loss is a hard lesson, but we’re going to keep fighting until the season ends.”
This loss is a stark reminder that consistency on both ends of the floor is crucial. With areas such as perimeter shooting and bench depth in need of urgent improvement, the Sound will focus on these aspects in practice. Despite the setback, the team remains determined to bounce back and refine their game plan for Senior Night which takes place at home this Thursday, 2/20 at 7:15 PM.
