Michael Topel returns to Five Towns College for his second season with the Sound as Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach. In his inaugural year Topel helped lead the Sound to a 3rd HVIAC Conference Championship and a 3rd USCAA National Tournament appearance.  Topel primarily works with individual player development along with assisting training session development.

Topel was an assistant coach at Molloy College (now Molloy University) from 2009-2011 working with both the men's and women's soccer teams under Danny Longo.  Topel had a hand in all aspects of the program including creating in game strategy, fundraising, conditioning, training sessions, film evaluation and recruiting.   

Topel attended Molloy College (now Molloy University) and was a member of the men's soccer team from 2005-08, and was a teammate of current Five Towns College head men's soccer coach, Jason Fiscina.  Topel was a 4 year starter in the midfield for the Lions along with being a 2 year captain.  Topel led the Lions to the programs first ever East Coast Conference Championshp in men's soccer (2008).  That team went on to make an appearnce in the NCAA East Regional.  Topel was a 4x All ECC Academic Honor Roll. 

Topel also has international play experience playing in the Viareggio Cup World Football Tournament in Viareggio, Italy as a member of New York Stars (2007).  Topel also appeared in the Empire State Games as a member of the Long Island Region (2005).  After his time at Molloy, Topel went on to play for NY Polet SC in the Long Island Soccer Football League.  

Aside from coaching at Molloy, Topel served as a soccer consultant for the Port Washington Soccer Club from 2005-2012.  There he selected and assessed multiple youth teams along with communicating strategic/tactical strategy coaching staff.  He also conducted both team and individual player analysis.  Lastly Topel estabilished and managed mini camps for the club. 

As a high school athlete at Island Trees, Topel was an All County midfielder and 3 year varsity starter.  

Topel graduated from Molloy with a Bachelors Degree in Science (2009) and his MBA in Accoutning (2011).

Topel resides in Levitown, New York.
