Dix Hills, N.Y. – Five Towns College Athletic Director Matt Guercio has announced that Corey Jacques has been named the Head Women's Basketball Coach.
Jacques comes to Dix Hills after previously serving as an assistant coach at St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, NY as part of Mike Kelly's staff during the 2021-2022 season. He has worked as a skills trainer with 3d Athletics Health & Fitness and has been a coach with AAU programs, Boys 2 Men (2020-2021) and Long Island Swarm (2016-2020).
"We are incredibly excited to welcome Corey as our head women's basketball coach," Guercio said. "He has a proven track record of caring for and developing student-athletes and his values align with the mission of the College. Corey is a true leader who will mentor our student-athletes on and off the court for our program."
From 2019-2021, Jacques worked for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the basketball operations department. In this position, he worked closely with the Front Office and coaching staff on a daily basis in team operations, logistics, and player development. From 2016-2019, he was a team attendant with the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League.
"First and foremost, I would not be in this position if I didn't put my faith in God," said Jacques. "I have been dreaming of this moment for a long time and I need to thank the people that have helped me get here. My mother, my brother, my girlfriend, my extended family, friends and mentors. This moment would not be possible without you. I am so grateful to President Cohen and Athletic Director, Matt Guercio for believing in me and entrusting me to lead this program. I cannot thank them enough. We will strive for excellence and focus on winning the day with small tasks in the classroom, on the court, and in the community."
Jacques attended Medaille University from 2014-2017 where he played two seasons for the Mavericks, majoring in Sport Management and was a member of the 2016 Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship team. He later transferred to Five Towns College and played two seasons for the Sound, one under current head men's coach, Gregg Drzal in 2018-2019. In 25 games, he averaged 10.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
As a high school athlete, Jacques was voted one of the top 40 players in Nassau County during his junior and senior seasons at Valley Stream North High School. He was named 1st team All-Conference, as well as one of the top 100 in Nassau County.
The women's basketball team will open up the 2022-23 season on the road at the PSU Scranton Tip-Off Tournament November 11 and 12.
